Minnesota Beaches

Along the Minnesota Coastline with Lake Superior there are a number of beautiful Minnesota Beaches. Lake Superior is a magnificent body of water whose conditions can rapidly change over hours and days. The coastline along Lake Superior is often scattered with cliffs, and large and small rocks. As a result, it is often easier to view the lake from a distance than to find a nice Minnesota beach location.

There are many outdoor and water activities along the Minnesota Beaches during the summer months to include water skiing, boating, fishing, canoeing and hiking.  There are many lakefront cabins to take advantage of for your family vacation.

Beginning in Duluth, Minnesota travelers can begin to catch beautiful views of Lake Superior and can find beautiful places to vacation and travel all along Highway 61. The Highway 61 route that provides continual picturesque views carries travelers along the entire Minnesota Great Lakes coast line.

Tettegouche State Park

A few of the most notable Minnesota beaches include the waterfront at Tettegouche State Park, the beautiful rocky beach of Artist’s Point in Grand Marais, Minnesota, the waterfront beach at Split Rock Lighthouse, and the beach walkway found in Duluth.  At Tettegouche State Park guests will find a brand new beautiful guest center that is supplied with a gift shop, coffee house, comfortable fireplace sitting area, and numerous restrooms. A short hike on a paved path down from the guest center towards Lake Superior will bring guests to a beautiful beach area where children will enjoy looking for agates along the beach and skipping rocks into the water. Hiking trails for all levels branch off from this beach access point and provide incredible waterfall and Lake Superior views. Guests may camp within the state park or stay in one of the many resorts and lodges that are scattered along the Lake Superior coast.

Artist’s Point Beach

The incredibly beautiful rocky beach at Artist’s Point in Grand Marais is a treasured Minnesota beach. This beach is located just off of the downtown of the small little northern Minnesota fishing village, Grand Marais. Gift shops, coffee houses, and eateries are scattered around this quaint towns little streets. Artist’s Point provides breathtaking views of the Great Lakes and allows guests to hike along large rocks that meet up with the water’s edge. On a peaceful day guests can enjoy a relaxing stroll along the rocks and on windy days guests can find incredible wave formations that can be safely watched from the Artist’s Point rock formations.
Split Rock Lighthouse offers an additional Minnesota beach site along the Great Lakes that requires a small hike and descent down several flights of stairs to arrive at. It is a small beach location that is often hiked by visitors who also take time to explore the Split Rock Lighthouse guest center, movie theater that features a historical film of the site, restrooms, gift shop, and tour of the Split Rock Lighthouse grounds.
